How to Clean Your Brushes with Mariiposa Magiic

Cleaning your makeup brushes with Mariiposa Magiic doesn't get simpler than this.

Think of it like washing your hair:

* Start by wetting it

* Applying shampoo

* Rinse and Repeat (if necessary)

Step 1: Prep Your Brush

* Start with a clean cup of water that you’ll use to dip and soak your brush bristles. 

* Make sure the water covers the bristles thoroughly, as this helps the cleanser emulsify faster. 

* However, be careful not to oversoak the brush—don’t let water seep into the ferule (the metal part where the brush is attached to the handle). 

* This will keep the glue from breaking down and your brush intact. 

Step 2: Start Swirling

* Add a thin layer of water to the container where you’ll dip your brush. 

* The water will soften the cleanser and activate it. Swirl your brush in the water and cleanser mixture. 

* If it’s been a while since your last brush cleaning, you may not see lather or bubbles right away—and that’s okay! 

* Continue swirling the brush and you’ll start to notice the cleanser coating the bristles, working to break down makeup, oils, and grime. 

* The more you swirl, the more the product will start to lift the makeup buildup. 

Step 3: Extra Exfoliation with Sugar Diamond Scrub Technology

* For a deeper cleanse, use our patent-pending “sugar diamond” scrub surface inside the lid. This feature acts like a gentle exfoliator for your brush. 

* As you continue swirling, the sugar diamond will provide extra friction to break down stubborn makeup residue, ensuring every bristle is thoroughly cleaned. 

* It’s a little extra tough love for your tools! 

Step 4: Rinse, Repeat, and Rinse Again

* Now for the MAGIIC moment—rinse your brush! 

* As the cleanser works it's magiic, you'll see the makeup melt away. 

* Depending on how long it's been since your last brush cleaning, you may need to repeat the swirling and rinsing process a few times. The longer it’s been, the more buildup there might be.

* Keep swirling, rinsing, and repeating until you see those beautiful bubbles and lather forming. 

* That’s your cue—your brush is free of any residue and is squeaky clean! 

Step 5: The Final Check

* This step serves two purposes: ensuring your brush is completely clean AND speeding up the drying process. 

* Take a white towel and gently swirl your clean brush on it. The brush should leave no residue. If you see any makeup left behind, repeat Step 1 - 5.

Once it's spotless, move on to Step 6.

Step 6: Drying Your Brushes

Proper drying is essential for keeping your brushes in pristine condition.

* To dry your brushes after cleaning, gently wick away excess moisture by giving the bristles a soft swirl on a clean, white towel. Then, lay the brushes flat to dry, ensuring the bristles are angled downward. This prevents water from seeping into the handle, which could loosen the glue over time. 

  * Never dry your brushes upright (ex. a cup), as this can damage the integrity of the brush and reduce its lifespan.

* Smaller brushes, like eye shadow or concealer brushes, will usually dry within 1-2 hours. Larger, denser brushes may take a bit longer—sometimes up to overnight. Patience is key, and we promise, it’s worth the wait! 

Tips for a Successful Cleaning Session:

Before and After Photos: Don’t forget to take a “before” picture of your brushes—trust us, you’ll be both amazed and grossed out by the transformation. It’s a great reminder to stay on top of your brush care, and it’ll give you a fresh memory of what a clean brush looks like for next time!
